Life flashes before us in the blink of an eye, and if we’re not careful, it’s done and we go back to being moon dust. It sounds like a morbid thing to say but there is an entire world out there of things that you could be doing with your time, and this is the year that you have to stop saying: tomorrow.

 

There may not be many tomorrows and you don’t want to regret all of your yesterdays one day. The best thing to do is create a bucket list of places to go, things to do and experiences that you want to have, so that you can feel as if your life has been worth every second.

 

With this in mind, here is a good start to that bucket list, allowing you to plan a life of excitement. Let’s see:

1. See the elephants in Thailand

If you want to travel, you can’t get too much better than seeing the world’s biggest moving land animal. There is an entire Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai and it’s somewhere you can see some of the most stunning creatures ever born to this planet. You’ll be able to volunteer there if you choose, and it’s one of those never repeat experiences you’ll want to do over and over.

 

2. Get your diving certification

The dense rainforests of Uganda are thick and dark, leafy and full of life. The gorillas are found here, and you can get the closest ever encounter with the gorillas when you trek here. Another place to go is the Bwindi Forest National Park, where you will find some of the most majestic creatures in the world. 

 

6. Take a cruise of another kind

Have you ever seen the junk boats of Halong Bay? You wouldn’t be alone in saying no to that! Just a few hours from Hanoi is Halong Bay and it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site that must be on your bucket list. You can spend days or weeks here cruising in some of the prettiest waters ever. 

 

7. See the active volcanoes

A big part of the Swiss Alps is the Pacaya Volcano. There are 37 named volcanoes and three of them are still alive and active, and you can even hike up the Pacaya. This is a bucket list worthy place to be and it’s somewhere you’ll find some of the best places to photograph. 

 

8. Christmas through Europe

Have you ever seen Christmas done on an international level? If you haven’t, it’s something that you should add to your bucket list this year! Go and cruise through Europe and test the delicious festive eats, the simple mulled wine and roasted chestnuts on London Bridge, and make a point of enjoying all of the Christmas markets. It’s one way to see the holidays in a way you might not have seen them before. Christmas through Europe in a way you can’t just do it from home!

 

9. Enjoy the ice age

11. Hike the Inca trail

Machu Picchu is one of the citadels known for its extensive history. You can get there in a multitude of ways, and most people choose the hike rather than take public transport. When they do, they will see the ruins in a way that no one has, and they’ll walk the same footsteps as the Incans did many years ago. There is a sense of pride that comes with seeing the ruins, and it will not be easy, but it’ll be worth it.

 

12. Take a picture in front of the Taj Mahal

If you want to start looking at landmarks, don’t forget the palace of the Taj Mahal. You can bet that the photo you’ll get will be added to the memory books. It’s one of those world beauties that you just don’t want to miss out on!

 

13. Head to London for the changing of the guard

The Changing of the Guard in Buckingham Palace is a spectacle that has been happening for years throughout history. You should see it at least once in life and the synchronized marching feels like you’re looking back through time. Get there early, though, because you can bet it gets crowded.
